When I owned the Pantry Cafe in NW Iowa, pie's were king. The life blood of the community.
At 10am and 3 pm the cafe filled with guests would put on the coffee and order pie. This recipe has been modified to have 1/2 the sugar.
Now... my oven is on the fritz so Im cooking it in the grill. Check it out!
Let's put it together...
8-10 Apples- Golden Delicious and Granny Smith
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup splenda
2t cinnamon
2T flour
9 inch crust
brown paper bag.
The Dutch Crumb Topping...
Mix all together
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup splenda
1/2 cup butter
Mix the apple mixture and place in a deep dish pie shell. Use a pyrex pie dish for best results.
Preheat you grill to 400 degrees.
If you have a pizza stone place that in on side of the grill grates.
Fill the pie shell, and place on the pizza stone. Turn off the side with the pizza stone.
Place the pie in a brown paper bag.
Cook the pie for about 60 to 80 min. or until the pie is golden brown.
